Mark Alan Tharp, age 40, of Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 21, 2026. Mark was a loving son, brother, and father who deeply cherished his two children, Jasper and Contessa. He was hardworking, loyal, and a true go-getter, always eager to learn and stay up to date on current events. Mark especially enjoyed spending time with his children, taking them to zoos, parks, museums, and art fairs. He was an idea man with a creative and imaginative spirit, always looking toward the next big thing. An eternal optimist, Mark was excited about the future and looked forward to all that was yet to come. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Lloyd; and his grandfathers, Jerry Slaughter and Ken Payne.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jasper Tharp, Katessa Tharp; father and stepmother, Larry and Tina Tharp; brothers, Randy Tharp and Maeve Carey, Brandon and Kayleigh Miller; sisters, Savannah and Elijah Metzger, Elizabeth Tharp; grandmothers, Roberta Slaughter, Ruth Payne; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. 

A service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
