Mark Olafson

Mark Olafson, age 58, of Allendale, MI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 29, 2022 in Gonzales, Louisiana. Mark was born on February 17, 1964 in Missoula, Montana to Delmar and Jane Klundt. He graduated from Cleveland High School in MN in 1982 and from Minnesota State Mankato then completed his non-destructing technology degree at Ridgewater College. Mark was currently employed at Waterford 3 Nuclear Power Plant in Killona, LA. Prior to his transfer to LA, he worked at the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert, MI until its June 2022 closure. Mark was also a current member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Mark is survived by his wife, Vicki, of Allendale, MI; son, Cameron Klundt (Brian Knauss), daughter, Kayla (Jordan) Knoper; granddaughter, Marki Knoper; mother, Jane Klundt; brother, Michael (Tiesha) Klundt; mother-in-law, Carole Olafson; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, multiple classic cars and vehicles. Mark was preceded in death by his daughter, Alyssa Olafson; father, Delmar Klundt; and father-in-law, Ralph Olafson. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1481 Baldwin St., Jenison. Burial Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, January 5 from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. and also one hour prior to the service on Friday at church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Harbor House Ministries or Allendale Community Foundation Alyssa Olafson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
