Remembering Marion J.  Vos

Vos, Marion J. Marion J. Vos, age 91, of Grandville, was born in an Iowa farmhouse on September 27, 1921 and went to be with Jesus for eternity on Saturday, April 13, 2013.  He was blessed with wonderful family relationships and will be lovingly remembered by his precious wife, of 63 years, Annette Vos; their sons, James C. and Gail Vos, Thomas J. and Barbara Vos, Daniel J. and Mary Vos; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Laura Slings; brothers, Rich and Wilma Vos, Paul and Marilyn Vos, Harold and Carolyn Vos, all of Pella, IA.  He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Qirah; four sisters and three brothers.  Marion was discharged from the US Army in 1946.  He earned a B.A. from Calvin College and an M.A. from the University of Michigan.  He was a Christian school teacher and principal for 35 years, 30 which were at Grandville Christian School.  During that time he was privileged to serve in church leadership positions, on public library boards, and for 11 years on the Grandville City Council, 7 of them as mayor.  The Lord gave Marion a long retirement in which he volunteered thousands of hours in home construction and repairs and also served as an instructor for hundreds of Bible lessons done by prison inmates.  To God alone be the glory. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday 10:30 am at South Grandville Christian Reformed Church, 4130 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville with Dr. Daniel Mouw officiating.  Interment Grandville Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 4-8 pm AT CHURCH and also on Wednesday from 9:30-10:15 prior to the service at church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grandville Christian School or World Renew.  A special thank you to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods for their wonderful care.
