Marilyn Kay Armstrong

May 25, 1942 ~
September 6, 2024

Marilyn Kay Armstrong, age 82, of Byron Center, went to be with her Lord and Savior while she was surrounded by her family on Friday, September 6, 2024.

Growing up in South Haven, Marilyn was a self proclaimed “tomboy” who enjoyed jumping out of haylofts and playing baseball. Later in life, she graduated with Associates Degrees from Lansing Community College and Davenport College. Marilyn had many jobs over the years, but her most rewarding job was working at Consumers Energy retiring as a customer service representative.

Marilyn was a lover of music and all things sweet.  There was not a dessert that she did not like or a song from Alan Jackson she did not know. She was a devoted follower of Jesus who cherished her time at church, with her small group, and making sure her family knew how much Jesus meant to her.  More than anything in this world though, Marilyn cherished her family and friends. She was kind to others and dedicated to  relationships she had during her lifetime. She made it a priority to attend countless sporting events her children and grandchildren participated in over the years as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Warren and Dorothy Garver; her mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Donald Armstrong; her aunt, Ruth (Robert) Kitzsteiner; and her brother-in-law, Rich Armstrong. She will be missed most by her devoted husband of 56 years, Bill, who spent the last two years caring for and supporting his beloved bride while she battled dementia courageously; children, Jeff (Elisa) Armstrong,  Julie (John) Meiser; grandchildren, Avery, Colin, and Alayna Armstrong, Dominic Kalush, Carson, and Cole Meiser; great-granddaughter, Summer Kalush; sister, Nancy (Dave) Rauch; sister-in-law, Sandra Armstrong; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a visitation at 1 p.m. on September 13 with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m., at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, located at 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, in Kentwood, MI, with Pastor John Meiser officiating.  A reception with light refreshments will immediately follow the service. Burial will take place at a date to be determined.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary contributions be made to Cornerstone Church in Caledonia located at 1675 84th Street, Caledonia, MI 49316 or online at www.cornerstonemi.org.
