Marilyn J. (Plaggemeyer) Buikema, age 84, of Jenison, was called home into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 10, 2021 and is now united again with her husband of 59 years, Robert; and her grandson, Benjamin TerAvest; Marilyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dearly loved her family. She was blessed with the gift of music, using her talents as an organist for many years. Over the years she served as a crossing guard at Bursley School in Jenison. Marilyn loved the outdoors, especially camping by the beach where many great memories were made with family and friends. Above all, her love for Jesus and her love for her family was evident to all who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Barbara (Steve) Baker, Carol (William) DeJong, Catherine (Calvin) TerAvest; grandchildren, Grayson (Meagan) Baker, Kaitlin (Jim) Wilson, Melissa (Andrew) DeJong-Tjaden, Stephanie (Jordan) DeJong-Angell, Lexie DeJong, Cassandra (Tom) TerAvest-Baker, Elysia TerAvest, Andrew TerAvest; great-grandchildren, Caroline Baker, Adaline, Eloise, and Lenora Tjaden; and Amalia Baker. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Pastor Nate Meldrim officiating. Burial Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to a Christian School of one’s choice or to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
