Remembering Marilyn Dyke
Marilyn Dyke, 86, of Jenison, originally of Allendale, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, in Byron Center, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 2005. Marilyn was a servant and a child of God. She lived for her family and served well. She was an aide for 45 combined years at Lamont Christian Rest Home and Allendale Nursing Home. Marilyn volunteered as a Gems leader, 4-H leader, room mother, and participated in crafting groups for the local Christian School Bazaars. There was not a craft she couldn't do or didn't try. She worked magic with a sewing machine, needles and yarn, crochet hook and thread, paintbrush and canvas. She could fix anything. Marilyn lived life to the fullest, was always looking for fun, and was a bit of a jokester. Marilyn is survived by her children, Wayne Dyke, Sherry (Bob) VandenBosch, Karen (Jack) Huizinga, Betty (Tom) Koning; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Gruppen; and in-laws, Gert (Harv) Gruppen, Ange (John) Gruppen, Gert (How) Gruppen, Grace (Lee) Dyke, Marilyn (Ray) Overweg. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 2:30 p.m at Alive Ministries, 263 Church St., Jenison, with Rev. Terry Scholten officiating. Interment will be held at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Memorial contributions may be made to Rachel’s Annual Teen Drive for Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital or Faith Hospice.
