DOUGHERTY - Marilyn Jean Dougherty age 81 passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lenabelle Schoenborn; brothers, Paul Schoenborn, Kenneth Schoenborn, and Alfred Schoenborn; sister, Nina Farnham, infant grandson Michael (Mikey) Warner and sons-in-law Tom Miller and Tom McGarry. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 37 years, Lewis Dougherty; children, Pamela (Curtis) Chaffee, Peggy (John) Connor, Patricia Miller, Michael Warner, Kenneth (Christine) Warner Jr., Daniel (Jackie) Warner; grandchildren, Curtis Chaffee Jr., Chad (Leah) Chaffee, Christopher (Kristi) Chaffee, Carrie Ann Fuller, John Connor, Tricia Drake, Cynthia Nees, Joseph Weber Jr., Matthew Warner, Cassidy Warner, Kenneth Warner, Kraig Warner, Shelby Warner, Brooklyn Warner, and Jackson Warner; great grandchildren, Ashley (Tony) Allers, Catrina Chaffee, Aldric Chaffee, Curtis Chaffee III, Cody (Melissa) Chaffee, Ceasyn Chaffee, Carson Chaffee, Coen Chaffee, Lyndsey Chaffee, Elizabeth Chaffee, Sophia Marilyn Fuller, Charlotte Drake, and Myles Drake; great great grandchildren, Elise Allers, Robin Allers, and Izabella Chaffee; sister, Joan Bitner; sisters-in-law, Judy Schoenborn, Marsha Schoenborn; brother-in-law, Wayne Farnham. Marilyn also loved and is survived by many step children, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren. Marilyn retired from General Motors and later volunteered to drive for The Newaygo County Commission on Aging. She also served on The Board of Review for Monroe Township in Newaygo County. Marilyn loved to cook for her family. As soon as Marilyn knew anyone was coming to visit, she put brownies in the oven. She was the happiest cooking for her growing family on holidays. She even cooked for Christmas 2016. Marilyn also was a great gardener who always kept a yard filled with beautiful blooms from spring until fall. She was an avid reader. Many books and gardening catalogs helped Marilyn survive the snowy winters. Cremation has taken place per Marilyn's wishes. A memorial service will be held on January 21 at 1:00 PM at the Everett Township (Newaygo County) Hall, 1516 E 8th St., White Cloud. Coffee and cake will be served directly after the service.
