Marie DeVries

On Saturday, April 26, our beautiful mom left her earthly life to continue everlasting life with Jesus. She was 98. She will be deeply missed by us, her children: Karen and Rog VanDyke, Rich and Linda VanDyken, Bette Taylor, Rick and Phyllis DeVries, Lori and Scott Nowlen and Corky and Mary Jean DeVries;  her grandchildren: Scott and Heather VanDyke, Eric VanDyke, Kara and Nate Kamps, Marie and Adam Yowtz, Marc VanDyken, Tami and Brian Carter, Joel and Tryna Walcott, Nicole and Tim Karsies, Dustin and Angie Maranda, Chris and Genevieve DeVries, Ben and Kate DeVries, Grant and Britni DeVries, Luke and Mindi DeVries, Nate DeVries, Sarah and Jerry Keeney, Nick Nowlen; 43 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jean and Rog VanKoevering, Marv and Donna DeVries, Ron Smith, Sherwin and Donna DeVries; and many nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with our dad, Nelson DeVries; her daughters: Judy VanDyken and Marcia Walcott, her great-grandson, Silas Nowlen; her great-great-granddaughter, Willow Mae Buchanan; her brother, John and his wife, Lois Timmer; and many DeVries in-laws. Our mom loved her family, cared deeply for others and was a woman of great faith. She was in awe of God's creation and loved to garden. She followed the example of Jesus and volunteered for many organizations well into her 90s and believed there is no limit to God's love and grace. Our family thanks Rose Garden Homes and Faith Hospice, especially Kathy Babcock, for the compassionate care that you've shown our mom. A celebration of our mom’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 16, at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin Street, Jenison, with an opportunity to meet with the family one-hour prior starting at 1 p.m. Pastor Ron Baker will be officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we suggest that donations be made to Love Your Neighbor or Faith Hospice or to your favorite charity.
