She decided to go back to school and chose nursing as her career.  She attended Grand Rapids Community College were she studied nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She enjoyed a long career as an L.P.N. first working at Sunshine Hospital and Tuberculosis Sanitarium, from there she went to Maple Grove Rehabilitation Hospital, and finally, to Kent Community Hospital. “Mrs. O”, as she was known by hospital staff and patients, found great joy and satisfaction assisting and comforting her many patients over the years. After leaving the nursing profession she continued her love of education by attending Aquinas College until illness brought her back to using her nursing skills to care for her husband, who had been a builder and finish carpenter all his adult life. Following her husband’s death, she retired from nursing and took up building homes, primarily in the Lake Bella Vista area. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Belmont, Michigan in October.

I am so sorry to just find this obituary of aunt Marie. So much time lost. I loved when she would visit for a cup of tea. Such a quiet & sweet woman. My sincere condolences to her family.
