Maribeth Stech

Maribeth Stech, age 64, of Hudsonville, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on April 29, 2023 surrounded by family.

Beloved wife of Jim Stech; loving stepmother of Jenna (Caleb) Dutton; grandmother of Sophie, Camryn, and Kobe; cherished daughter of the late Aerie and Bertha Verkaik; daughter-in-law of George and Marge Stech; sister of Rich (Ginny) Verkaik, Duane (Ruth) Verkaik, Mike (Dawn) Verkaik, and the late Dave (Sally) Verkaik; sister-in-law of Beth (Larry) Martin and Jean (Scott) Barlev; aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews. Maribeth was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Maribeth’s steadfast faith in her Lord was evident in everything she did, and the love of Jesus radiated through her. She used her God-given gift of hospitality to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those around her by preparing and hosting meals for those in need of support. She also faithfully served the ministry of Reframed Ministries, formerly Back to God Ministries International, where she worked for over 15 years. Maribeth never hesitated to help others and was a great example of Christian love to those who encountered her.

Maribeth was comforted by God’s presence in her life and took time to rest in Him and His promises. She was encouraged through the words of Psalm 46:10, “be still and know that I am God” even through the hardest moments of her life; Maribeth knew that God’s strength was enough to carry her through.

The Stech, Verkaik, and Dutton families have been blessed and comforted by the outpouring of love, prayer, and support they have received from family and friends, both near and far. They grieve the loss of Maribeth’s presence on earth, but rejoice in the hope of knowing that they will one day be reunited for eternity.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. at Haven CRC, 541 Alice St., Zeeland, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the same location.
