Marian Van Vels

​Marian Van Vels, age 92, of Jenison, went to be with her Blessed Lord and Savior on Friday, June 11, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob; her parents, Albert & Anna Doorn; her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Allen and Mary Doorn; her parents-in-law, Edward and Tressa Van Vels; brother-in-law and sister-in laws, Louis Van Vels, Jim and Anna Vanden Bosch, Peter and Lucy Van Vels, Peter and Jacoba Van Dyke.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dave and Anne Van Vels, Sally Van Vels, Jim and Laura Van Vels, Deb and Rick Neerken, Steve and Barb Van Vels; her grandchildren, Nikol Keeler, Joel and Audrey Van Vels, Matt and Missy Van Vels, Burgundy Shuff, Ryan Van Vels, Justin and Missy DeJong; her great-grandchildren, Jacoba and Isaac Keeler, Brooks and Andrew Van Vels, Aiva, Nolan, Addie, Nora and Lucy Van Vels, KayLynn Shuff, Zoey Shoemaker, Dayton and Landon Cassiday; brother and sister-in-law, Sherwin and Ellen Doorn; many nieces and nephews.

Marian was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who put her family before herself. Our only comfort in life and in death is that we are not our own but belong in body and soul, in life and in death to our faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Spectrum Hospice nurses, Jessica and Stephanie, who assisted family with Marian’s care for the last 6 months. They were a gift to all of us.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:30 am at Baldwin St. Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison with Rev. James Evenhouse officiating. Burial will be at Georgetown Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday, June 16 from 10 am until 11:15 am prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to World Renew or Libertas Christian School.
