Marian Piers

Marian Elaine Piers, age 88, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, in Jenison, MI surrounded by her family. She was born in Grand Rapids on June 7, 1937, to Titus and Adrianna Helmholdt in a family of six children. Marian graduated from South High School in 1955. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Eugene, as well as her sisters Betty and Mildred. She is survived by her children, Jill Piers (Ira Socol), Sharon Dys (Bruce); grandchildren, Whitney (Keone) Bareng and Spencer (Tara) Higgs; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Parker, and Sophia; siblings, Don (special friend Fran) Helmholdt, Floyd (Jane) Helmholdt, and Carol Dykstra. Marian and Gene attended Rosewood Reformed Church throughout their marriage. She stayed at home caring for her family and also held various clerical and sales jobs, until her last job as a purchasing assistant for X-Rite. Marian enjoyed reading, baking, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Howard Moths officiating. Burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Rosewood Reformed Church Youth Groups.
