Marian Lombardo

Marian Lombardo, 78, of Dorr, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 16, 2016. Born October 2, 1937 in Alaska, Michigan, she is predeceased by her parents, Norman J. and Mildred M. Swainston; her sisters, Margaret (Bill) Stauffer, Lillian (Ronald) Paffhausen, Dorothy (Claude) Colburn; and her brothers, Harold Swainston and Norman Swainston. Marian was a homemaker living in Wyoming, Michigan and joined with her husband, Joseph, in the ownership and operation of Joe's Pizza King, in 1975. Together with her husband and four children, she worked to create a successful family business. She loved her garden flowers and farm cats, listening to music, baking homemade pies and going on cruises with her husband, friends and family. She traveled to Florida every winter and enjoyed the fellowship of her Piney Point friends. Survivors include her loving husband, Joseph; and her four children; James (Patricia Owen) Lombardo, Gigi (John) Weaver, Wanda (Frank) Vitale and John (Catherine) Lombardo; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial 11:00 AM Tuesday September 20 at Our Lady of Sorrow 101 Hall St. SE, Grand Rapids. The family will greet relatives and friends Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave., and one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Sorrows. The prayers of the Rosary will be recited at 7:45pm Monday.
