Margaret Ellen Andersen, age 67, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. She was born March 4, 1955 in Grand Rapids to Soren and Dorothy Andersen. She attended Lincoln School and went to Hope Network Day programming for many years. She loved purses, tote bags, jewelry and headbands, musicals, Oldies music, and Bingo. She also enjoyed family get-togethers and dances. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Andersen; sister, Mary Andersen. She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Bill Andersen, Thomas Andersen, Barb and Chris Hackett; nephews, Josh and Valerie Matzen, Joe Matzen; great nieces and cousins and her many friends at Edison Christian Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Edison Christian Life Services or Foundation (https://www.edisonchristian.org/give/).

Margaret was a frequent companion at the reception desk at Edison and often showed me her jewelry and the treasures in her bag. Sometimes we would watch a favorite music video on the computer. When I once told her that my daughter and husband had passed away, she lifted her arms in the air with a smile and said, "Jesus! Jesus!" I will never forget this beautiful act of comfort. Her death saddened me but I rejoice that she is happy and healed in heaven with the Jesus she loved.

Margaret lived across the hall from my Dad, so we would see her often. She was always smiling and we would exchange hi's in the hallway. I would often see her looking at the bingo prize cabinet to see what she might win. She will be missed.
