Margaret Berkenpas, age 81, of Grand Rapids, was called home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2015. She was preceded in death by her infant son; granddaughter, Amber VandenBerg; several brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Lester; their children, Leslie and Barb Berkenpas, Barbara Berkenpas, Gary Berkenpas, Steve and Vicky Berkenpas; grandchildren, Jason, Lisa, Micah, and Dylan Berkenpas, Mike VandenBerg; brothers, Henry and Margaret Zuverink, John and Ann Zuverink, Don and Yvonne Zuverink; sister, Sarah and Oren Mercer; sisters-in-law, Kiel Zuverink, Carrie Zuverink, Jean and Peter Visser, Gladys and Al Vanniman, Ann and Sam Berkenpas-Tjepkema; brothers-in-law, Robert Berkenpas, Willard Berkenpas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Margaret was a sweet, loving and selfless woman whose faith in Christ was her joy in life. Funeral services will be held on Thursday 11:00 am at Bethany United Reformed Church, 5401 Byron Center Ave. SW, Wyoming with Rev. Casey Freswick officiating. Interment Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Mid America Reformed Seminary or Zion Christian School.
