Mae Eaton

Mae Eaton, age 84, of Allendale, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Mae was known for her servant's heart. Many lives were touched by her skills of baking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Potgeter; and son-in-law, Jack Ossewaarde. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Alvin Eaton; children, Sharon Ossewaarde, Amy and Brian McMurray, Dennis and Kim Eaton, Robin and Mark Twiest; son-in-law, Michael Potgeter; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Edith Rycenga, John and Rosemary Nuland, Ann VanFarowe; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Arnold Eaton, Ray and Marcia Eaton; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 8, at 3 p.m. at Spring Valley Church, 5947 Lake Michigan Drive, Allendale, with Rev. Rob Wondergem officiating. The burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 2-3 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Allendale Lions Club or the American Heart Association.

I'm very sad I will not see Mae again on this earth, but I know we will share eternity with her. What a wonderful lady - a true Gem! So giving with her time. She was part of our church family and my 4H leader when I was a young girl. And Amy's mom:) My prayers for her family and friends. "When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory!"

Mae was one of the first smiling faces I remember seeing when we decided to check Spring Valley out 10 years ago. She was always busy donating her time, sewing talents, baked goods, etc., and always with a smile! Mae, thank you for demonstrating what being the hands and feet of Jesus looks like. Eaton family - you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time. I am so sorry for your loss, but am also comforted to know that Mae is surrounded by love and peace in heaven as well. ♥️
