Remembering Madelyn Varano
Madelyn Varano, age 88, of Wyoming, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 10, 2026. In retirement, she got great joy from volunteering at John Knox Food Pantry, Wyoming Public Library and Schools, Holy Name of Jesus Church and San Juan Diego Academy. She also enjoyed her backyard gardens, scrapbooking, reading and listening to classical and C&W music, attending craft shows and decorating. One of her greatest delights was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Peter; daughter, Celeste; sister, Elaine; and parents, John & Genevieve Warner.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Brian (Sandra), Rev. Gregory (Kathleen); daughter, Colleen (Kenneth); six granddaughters, Hollie, Jami, Megan (Joe), Maria (Luke), Renna, and Katie; three grandsons, Peter Marcus (Sharon), Michael (Kristen), and Nikolas; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Frank (Amy) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1048 Chicago Dr., Wyoming, MI 49509 with Rev. Steven Dudek presiding. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday September 18 from 5-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers please make remembrances to San Juan Diego Academy. A special thank you to Penny for her care and comfort to her Aunt Madelyn. Also to the care team at U of M Health-West, Harbor Post-Acute Center, and Faith Hospice Trillium Woods.
