M. Bernard Scholten, age 86, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Celebrating his home going are his wife of 64 years, Joyce; children, Bruce (Wendy) Scholten, Pam (Dan) Root, Jan (Ed) Syswerda, Sue Scholten; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Herm (Jo) Scholten; sister-in-law, Althea Bosch; and many nieces and nephews. Bernie was in the banking business for 51 years and was the first treasurer at Grandville Christian School. Bernie was also a lifetime member and elder at Hope Christian Reformed Church and a board member of the CRC Board of Publications. Funeral services will be held on Saturday 11 AM at Hope Christian Reformed Church, 3110 Barrett St. SW, Grandville with Rev. Dale Fopma officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5-8 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW and Saturday from 10-11 AM at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to World Renew.
