Lucretia Arlene Whitehead (1927-2013) On May 25th, 2013 Lucretia Whitehead, age 85, went to be the Lord she loved and trusted in all her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert W. Whitehead, and granddaughter Mary Ellen Whitehead. She is survived by her 5 loving children Barbara (Corneliu) Georgescu, Robert (Agathe) Whitehead, Ruth (Richard) Saukas, Nina Howerton, Pam (Pete) Whitehead-Miller, her grandchildren; Lauren and Sean Sampson, Anya Chamberlain, Andrew Saukas and Amy Berra, Wesley Whitehead, Benjamin (David) Saukas, Diana Howerton, Katherine Howerton, and Joel Saukas, as well as her great-grandchildren; Hiedi Chamberlain, Caleb Chamberlain, Aubrey Chamberlain, Timothy Chamberlain, Paul Chamberlain, Jubilee Sampson, and David Sampson. Lucretia Hoover was born on June 2 1927 in Hitchcock Oklahoma. She met and married her lifelong sweetheart Bob Whitehead while she was living in Enid in 1945. They moved to Indiana, where he became a pastor. Lucretia was active in her husband's ministries, while raising five children and graduating with a teaching degree from Grace Bible College in Indiana. They moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1968 where Lucretia continued her teaching career at Thornapple Elementary School in Forest Hills, until her retirement. She and her husband continued to be active in Christian ministry throughout there 57 year marriage. After the passing of her husband in 2001 Lucretia returned to Oklahoma to be near her relatives. There she continued to be active in her community and childhood church, teaching Sunday school into her 80s. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The Memorial service will be held Thursday the 30th of May, at 3pm at Stegenga Funeral Chapel on Division Avenue. There will be time to condole with the family and loved ones prior to the service.
