Remembering Lucille Lankheet

Lucille R. Lankheet, age 97, of Jenison, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Lucille was blessed with an independent spirit whose life was marked by service, kindness, and a deep love for others. Born in Holland, Michigan, to the late George and Anna Vork, she carried with her a lifelong appreciation for faith and family. A graduate of Holland Christian High School, she attended Calvin University before earning her teaching certificate from Grand Valley State University, faithfully using her gifts as a teacher at Kelloggsville Christian School.

The lakeshore held a special place in her heart, where some of her most treasured moments were spent with her family. She found great joy in God's creation and was an avid gardener, often sharing her knowledge and lending a helping hand to others in their own gardens. Her creative spirit was evident in her quilting, while her love of reading and playing games also brought her great joy.

A servant at heart, she generously gave of her time and talents throughout her life. She faithfully served her church in numerous ways and continued volunteering at Nice Twice in Grandville until the remarkable age of 92. Above all, she cherished her family and lived a life that reflected her love for Jesus and her family.

She is preceded in death by her children, Karen (Henry) Bouwman, David Lankheet, and Gayla VanderMolen; and her brother, Don Vork.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Steve Lankheet, Ellyn and Mike Olney, son-in-law, Andy VanderMolen; grandchildren, Paul and Sheri Lankheet, Nathan and Rebecca VanderMolen, Julia VanderMolen, Jennifer VanderMolen and Lucas Potter, Meredith and Tim Emelander, Matthew and Whitney Olney, Madelyn and David Hubbard; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Vork;  and her niece, Lynn and Phil Kennedy. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers in the Reflections unit of Sunset Manor and to Emmanuel Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Lucille.

A private family graveside service will take place at Graafschaap Cemetery in Holland. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Resonate Global Mission or Emmanuel Hospice.
