Lucille Mellema

Lucille Mellema, age 98, of Jenison, born on November 28, 1926, born in Blije, The Netherlands, completed her work here on earth on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, and is now home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Lucille was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her Lord and her family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Andrew; her son, Mike Mellema; grandson, Jack “JJ” Mellema, Jr.; and her sister and brother-in-law, Rena and Chris Kooistra. She also is now reunited with precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren who also preceded her to heaven. Lucille is lovingly remembered by her children, Jim and Luanne Mellema, Jan and Pete Van Strien, Linda and David Eastway, Rick and Joanne Mellema, Jack and Jackie Mellema, Roger and Sue Mellema, Marsha and Tim Brookens; 24 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren with one more soon to arrive; one soon to arrive great-great-grandchild; and several loving nieces and nephews both local and in The Netherlands. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, at MKD Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with her grandson, Dr. Kevin Eastway, officiating. Burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday, November 2, from 5-8 p.m. and also on Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Sunset Manor and Corewell Health Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Lucille.
