LuAnn Welch

LuAnn Welch age 84, of Hudsonville, passed away on September 15, 2025. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Bob Welch; sons, Michael and Robert; step-son, Douglas, step-daughters, Donna and De-anna; grandchildren, Shannon and her husband Evan, Maddison, Cameron; great grandchildren, Kaley, Natalie, Hyla, Luna; brother, Jesse and his wife Sharon; nieces, Amy and her husband, Nate; Sheila, great nephew, Noah and great niece, Zoey. LuAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Gladys Salazar and her daughter, Susan. 

LuAnn loved golfing, and it quickly became a passion she carried wherever she went. Before meeting Bob, she rarely left Grand Rapids, but together they enjoyed traveling across the country—and no matter where they went, LuAnn always looked for a course to play during the week.

Above all, her greatest joy in life was her family. Nothing was more important to her. She treasured time spent babysitting her children and grandchildren.

LuAnn was also deeply connected to her church family at Grand Rapids First, where she and Bob faithfully served in many ways over the years. Known for her compassion, she cared deeply for others, supported numerous animal causes, and faithfully lifted people up in prayer as a true prayer warrior. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed reading, finding peace and joy in her books, specifically The Bible.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 11,  at  Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. French officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday at 10:00 am prior to the service.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
