Louise Faasse, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at 93 on August 27, 2020. She joins her husband of 69 years, Marcus (Max), who died in 2015. She was also predeceased by two grandsons, Ryan and Alexander; her daughter-in-law Shannon; her brother Richard Jeltema; and her sister Donna Wierenga. Louise was born in Grand Rapids on November 10, 1926, the first child of Jacob and Frances (Ysseldyke) Jeltema. Growing up during the depression and World War II, she became a lifelong example of humble faith, love, and perseverance to her six children and to all who knew her. A skilled seamstress, baker, and gardener, Louise was tireless in her devotion to her family and to her church. There she loved singing with her family and with the choir in her clear soprano voice. Louise and Max loved to travel, whether to Europe or throughout the US in their Avion, often combining travel with service to others through CRWRC (World Renew) and at Cary Christian Center in Mississippi. In later years, they enjoyed dancing to Big Band and swing music.  She is survived by her children: Marc and Nancy Faasse (Dania and Rachel), Thomas and Kristine Faasse (Todd, Danielle, Sarah and Kate), Janice and Thomas Hoffer (Rose, Richard, and Jennifer), Susan and Paul Bogardus III (Jodee, Beth, and Jana), James Faasse (Derek and Jason), and Daniel and Susan Faasse (Peter, Lucas, and Martha); thirty great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Louise is also survived by two sisters, Vivian Van Dyke and Lorraine (Mel) Vanden Berg, and many nieces and nephews. A private graveside service with Dr. Daniel Mouw officiating will be held and a public memorial service will be announced at a later date.  Burial Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Louise’s memory to World Renew/Disaster Response Services will be gratefully received.

Hey Faasse's, I was saddened to see the passing of your mom but it brought back delightful memories of hanging out at your house on 35th Street, playing battleship or playing "crack the whip" on the hill behind your house. Our families gathered often and your mom is almost always in those memories.

Those beautiful eyes and her sweet, genuine smile are what I see when I think about Louise. Even in her difficult days she would speak life into her caregivers with a please or you're so pretty . Louise so little but so loved by those of us who had the honor to care for her. What a loving family who gathered around her. Louise you must've done something right to have been loved so dearly by so many. I will miss you. Kathy White , Caregiver at American House

Aunt Louise was such a wonderful lady. Always soft spoken and kind. Our families had so much fun together when we were all kids. She was a wonderful friend to my Dad after my Mom died. Dad enjoyed going over to see her and Uncle Max and spending time with them. I will always enjoy the memories our families made together.. My heart goes out to all of you kids. What an example of true humble Christian servitude Max and Louise showed to everyone. Love and prayers to the whole family. Larry and Diane Maat

My heart is broken hearing about the passing of Louise. I am so happy to have had an impact on Louise’s life at American House because she truly had an impact on mine. I am very grateful to have known and take care of such an amazing, sweet individual like Louise. Louise brought me so much joy and laughter and I will cherish the memories for years to come. However, I know how happy she will be to reunite with Max. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Faasse family!
