Lola F. McClain

Lola F. McClain, age 94 of Kentwood, MI. passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on April 27th, 2023. She was the oldest of 4 children, born on April 22nd, 1929 to Alvin and Hattie Pitt of Sand Flat, Texas. She spent her formative years growing up on the farm in Southeast Texas. Lola was a 1945 graduate of Tyler High School (Tyler, Texas) and went on to receive her cosmetology and real estate licenses. She became a successful Tupperware party saleswoman and Salon Floor Training Manager at Chic University of Cosmetology in Grand Rapids, MI. for many years. 

It was during her first job working at a jewelry store in downtown Tyler that she met Bill McClain, who became the love of her life. They were happily married for over 61 years until his passing in 2009. 

Lola was preceded in death by her cherished husband Bill and her brother Bobbie (Joyce) Pitt. She is survived by her beloved sisters Lou Barron and Sue Barry. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Mike (Ann) McClain, her daughter Mickie Pino, Grandchildren; Jennifer (Chris) Stevick, Rachael (Ryan) West, Adam Pino, Daniel (Carissa) McClain, Anthony Pino, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and treasured friends. 

Those who knew Lola will remember her unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, devotion to John Knox Presbyterian Church and the Deborah Circle, her family and friends, her passion for a competitive game of Bridge or golf along with numerous volunteer efforts throughout her lifetime. Lola will be dearly missed and her love will forever be felt in the hearts of those she leaves behind. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Avenue, SE, Kentwood, 49508, with Pastor John Delger officiating, with private burial in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service at 12:00 noon, followed by a luncheon. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
