On Sunday, July 24, 2016, our faithful covenant God called Lois Eunice Kregel (Hoeksema) age 90, to her prepared mansion. Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Edward; her grandson Bradley Herman Kregel; her parents, Rev. Herman and Nellie Hoeksema; her siblings, Johanna and Lambert Doezema, Jeanette and William Clason, and Professor Homer and Gertrude Hoeksema. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mary and Kenneth Velthouse, Ellen and Joel Bruinooge, Charles Kregel Jr., David and Mary Kregel, Laura Nickle; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; her brother Herman and Annette Hoeksema; her in laws, Henrietta Molenkamp, Harvey and Dorothy Dams, Donald and Bonnie Kregel, Esther Kregel, and Judy Kregel. Lois graduated from Calvin College, teaching for many years; she was instrumental in developing the Special Education and Reading Tutorial programs at Adams Christian School. Besides being a terrific cook and baker (cinnamon rolls, pecan rolls, banket), Lois was an excellent seamstress, making clothing for herself and her family. Although stricken with a chronic illness as a young wife and mother, she was given the strength and grace to persevere in this life; she was a witness of the hope that was in her. Private family burial will be held Tuesday 3 pm at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at Grandville Protestant Reformed Church, (4320 40th St. SW, Grandville) Tuesday, July 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A memorial service is planned at the church on Wednesday 7 pm with visitation one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made to Adams Christian School.
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”
Isaiah 40:31

We extend our sincere condolences to Lois' entire family. In this sad time may you find strength from our Heavenly Father's promise that we can be reunited with our loved ones, who we have lost in death, by means of a resurrection and that death and pain "will be no more". - Revelation 21:3,4; John 5:28,29 Then 90 years will only be few! May this precious hope that awaits us and the love and support of family and friends bring you a measure of comfort now and in the days ahead.
- The Herman Family
