Lois Ann Scripsema

March 23, 1931 ~
April 26, 2022

Lois Scripsema, age 91, entered the presence of her Savior and Lord on April 26, 2022. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Miller, Elsie Poll, and Henry (Bud) Poskey as well as two sons-in-law, Michael Wyngarden and Ron VanDyke. She is survived by her husband, Len Scripsema; children, Dave (Deb) Scripsema, Sue VanDyke, Beth (Jim) Hekhuis; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Janet Reynierse. Lois grew up in Jenison and graduated from Grandville High School in 1948. It was on the lawn of First Reformed Church where she first caught the eye of Len Scripsema. He soon became a frequent customer at the Rainbow Grill where she was a carhop. They were wed on August 24, 1950, and she continued to serve him delicious meals for the next 71 years. She delighted in spending time with family and loved a good laugh. Her servant’s heart is what defined her most, and she gave of herself generously. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 7 pm on Monday, May 2, 2022, at First Reformed Church of Grandville 3060 Wilson Ave. SW with a coffee reception afterwards. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 5-7 pm prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to First Reformed Church of Grandville, Mel Trotter Ministries, or The Other Way Ministries.

So sorry to here about your mom passing Beth and Sue. I never had the pleasure of meeting her but if her daughters were her example, she was an awesome person. Prayers with you all.

Thinking of you all and how much you must miss her after losing her so suddenly. I had forgotten that she worked as a car hop at the Rainbow Grill - that was my first job as well. What a long and blessed life she had with us, and what joy she must feel reuniting with family and friends that have gone on before. ❤️ Gail

Many great memories of Lois and your group with my parents and their pedro club. Didn't realize that she worked at the Grill. My sympathy at your loss of a wife and mother. She was a special lady.
