Linda Kae Hoek

February 28, 2025

Linda Hoek, 76, of Caledonia, was called home unexpectedly on Friday, February 28, 2025. Linda had a special connection with many, having known them from her days in cosmetology at the Caledonia “Beauty Nook” and eventually The Caledonia Stylists. Throughout her life, she found joy in attending her boys' sporting events, supporting them every step of the way. Later, Linda was a beloved lunch lady at Dutton Elementary, where she cherished every student she served. In addition to her work at the school, Linda was the eBay manager at Fixture Finders, where her love of trinkets was fueled. Her desk was always stocked with candy for anyone who stopped by.

A true fighter, Linda faced numerous challenges, battling a brain tumor, breast cancer five separate times, a stroke, and many other health struggles, but she never gave up. Her contagious laugh could light up any room, and her determination shone through in everything she did. Whether it was her unwavering dedication to her husband, Dave, or her active role in numerous ministries at Peace Church, Linda was committed to making a difference. She was an outreach powerhouse, spreading joy, love and tchotchkes to everyone she touched.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Arlene (and Harold) DeGroot, Joanne (and Cal) Huizenga, Elenor (and Albert) Kroese; sister-in-law, Jeri Hoek. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, David Hoek. Her children; Scott and Amy Hoek, Todd and Suzanne Hoek; grandchildren, Scott Hoek II, Abigail and Brock Bates, Simon Hoek, Levi Hoek, Judah Hoek; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Cora Hoek, Doug and Maureen Hoek; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 6, 11 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to the memorial service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Operation Christmas Child and Dégagé Ministries.

My Aunt Linda was about 12 when I was born, I’ve enjoyed lifetime of memories of Uncle Dave & Aunt Linda, the first wedding I ever attended. Visiting our family farm, city girls response to farm life, wonderful affect on my mom. Then our 2 visit per year to Michigan, seeing Linda with her mom, sisters, all the family. Her husband, sons and now their present day families. Cool cars, beautiful homes and so MUCH FUN! Aunt Linda’s obituary is a perfect brief description of who she was and what she endured. I’m happy the LORD has called her home to see family again, what a joyful reunion. Terry Kroese and family

I met Linda, Dave and the boys as a teenager when I babysat for them. She was just someone who drew you to her with her kindness and cheerful Christian spirit. My sincere condolences to Dave, Scott & Todd and all of the extended family.

Linda was such a special funny lady! She always put a smile on my face. Her love for chocolate and eBay I remember fondly. She holds a very special place in my heart. Her years of working with my mom at Dutton were the very best! Sending thoughts and love to David and her family

I first met Linda when I purchased the salon she worked at back around 1990. We had so many great chats and I learned so much from her. What I remember most was that Linda was always happy, positive, and could talk about anything. She adored her family which clearly shone in her conversations about them. I have had the privilege of watching her boys grow up and marry exceptional woman, and have families of their own. Linda will be missed, I kept in touch with her through fcbk. Until Heavens reunion. God Bless 🕊️

Linda was always a bright spot in the day with something caring to say. She fiercely loved her family and was so very proud of each of them. That light will shine on in the hearts of all who knew her in every story, memory, recipe, and advice tidbits from a life well-lived. My prayers are with you all.
