Linda Anderson

January 12, 2026

Linda Kay (Dygert) Anderson, age 72, of Hudsonville and formerly a longtime resident of Jenison, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026.

Linda was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Athol Dygert and Marian (Smith) Dygert Mongeau. Raised in West Michigan, she built a life rooted in faith, family, service, and a deep love for children.

A devoted educator for 36 years, Linda taught first grade at Parkview Elementary School in Wyoming, Michigan. She was a proud graduate of Central Michigan University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Linda believed wholeheartedly in the power of learning, kindness, and patience, and she carried those values into her classroom every day. Through her gentle spirit, encouraging words, and unwavering dedication, she touched the lives of countless students and families, leaving a lasting impact that extended far beyond the classroom.

Above all else, Linda loved her family and friends. She was kind, patient, and endlessly giving—the type of person who quietly put others before herself. She never met anyone she didn’t want to talk to, and genuinely loved conversation with anyone she encountered. Linda was well known for her truly amazing hugs, freely given and always heartfelt. She had a special gift with children and especially cherished reading to them, sharing stories, laughter, and music. Her warmth, openness, and caring presence will be deeply missed.

Linda is survived by her loving children, James “Jimmy” Anderson, Jennifer “Jen” (Lori) Anderson, and Julia “JuJu” Anderson, each of whom held a uniquely special place in her heart. Being their mother was the greatest joy of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She is also survived by her siblings, Larry (Midge) Pipple and Ed (Carly) Dygert; many cherished grandchildren; and extended family members and friends who were blessed by her compassion and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Athol Dygert and Marian (Smith) Dygert Mongeau; and Alice, her special adopted granddaughter.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville.

Linda’s legacy lives on in the countless children she taught, the family she cherished, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her love of laughter and music, her welcoming spirit, and the warmth of her unforgettable hugs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s memory to the Michigan Reading Association an organization dedicated to promoting literacy and supporting readers and educators across Michigan.

Linda and I were colleagues teaching together first at Pinery Park Elementary and later we both taught 1st grade together at Parkview Elementary with Wyoming Public Schools. Linda was caring, kind, compassionate and joyful. Her laugh could light up the school! She has known for her loving bear hugs and her fun sense of humor. I transitioned to teach elementary art, but stayed in touch with Linda. We both retired the same year after both of us having taught over 35 years. Your love for children and guidance you shared will always be remembered. Sending deepest condolences to your beloved family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Linda's passing. My kids were at Parkview during her years there. My son had her as his teacher. I was involved in the PTO and always appreciated her support for our group. Such a dedicated educator and wonderful person!

Mrs. Anderson was my 1st grade teacher 26 years ago. She remained my favorite throughout all of these years that have gone by way too fast. I’ll always remember her warm hugs, how much she loved her students and encouraged us to be the best versions of ourselves. Mrs. Anderson, you will be missed dearly. 🤍

My heartfelt sympathy to the Anderson Family upon the passing of my special friend. How I enjoyed in recent months, seeing Linda and exchanging a hug, a smile and short conversation at the Day Center she so much enjoyed. When my father passed away last March, Linda was the one who was so very earnest in expressing her deepest sympathy to me. Linda and I had history back to our CMU days as sorority sisters. Rest in the arms of Jesus my friend. You will be missed.

I worked as support staff at Parkview Elementary for a nice length of time and I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to work with Linda. She always had such a kind and caring nature, with the staff and most especially her students. It always came through how much she loved what she was doing. Linda, I suspect that God is wearing a very large smile now that you are at His side.

Mrs. Anderson, your kindness and patience left a lasting mark on my life. You were always patient and caring when I was your student. A fond memory of mine is you teaching me the song “Fernando” by ABBA, I’ll never forget it or you. -Fernando Valdivia Jr

Both of my children were students of Linda at Parkview. I was a mom who volunteered frequently and quickly began to see Linda as a friend. Her love for children and family was evident immediately. It was always a joy to see her! I'm so sad that she had to experience dementia but happy to know that she is with Jesus and healed and complete. Thinking of Linda will always put a smile on my face. ❤️

I was a teacher at Parkview Elementary. I was there when Linda taught 1st grade. She was awesome: full of life, love and laughter. Her true heart was always something that I loved about her. You could definitely tell how she was feeling because that heart was forever displayed on her sleeve;) Linda was such a great human, and she will be missed. RIP ❤️ -Chris Krive

Loving Linda on the Edge of Goodbye I have been blessed to call Linda my friend for more than forty years—long enough that our lives became quietly, beautifully intertwined. We raised our children side by side, shared countless conversations that began with a wave across the street, or a cup of coffee around the kitchen table, and we walked through the ordinary joys and challenges of life together. We even taught at the same elementary school, learning alongside one another how much patience, creativity, and love children require. Linda was a constant in my life—a witness, a confidant, and a friend who knew my story because she lived so much of it with me. Watching dementia slowly take pieces of her has been heartbreaking beyond words. There is a unique grief in losing someone you love while they are still physically present. And yet, even now, love remains—steady, enduring, and unmistakable. I am deeply moved by Jenny’s devotion to her mother during this difficult season. Her strength, tenderness, and unwavering care are a testament to the love Linda poured into her family. It has been an honor to witness. I will remember Linda as she truly was: vibrant, devoted, kind, and deeply committed to children, family, and community. I will carry her stories, speak her name, and honor her life with gratitude. This goodbye comes too soon. But I am thankful for a friendship that spanned four decades, for a life that mattered, and for a love that does not disappear. You’ll know my name when I see you in Heaven. Godspeed, my friend.
