Lester “Ted” Jay Gemmen Sr.

  Lester “Ted” Jay Gemmen Sr., age 87, was carried into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 22, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Muriel, in 2013; brothers, Nelson (Jenny) Gemmen, Russell Gemmen; sister, Jeanne (Titus) VanHaitsma; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John (Minnie) Kuyers, Grace (Fred) Jelsema, Fannie (Herm) Wierda, Evelyn (Frank) Kuntz, Egbert (Ruth) Kuyers; and a great granddaughter, Madison Rose Veele. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Joy and Ward DeVries, Lester Jr. and Lavonne Gemmen, Dennis Gemmen and Valorae Gemmen, Patricia and Duane Veele, Marcia Gemmen, Robert and Sarah Gemmen; 22 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; sister, Rosie (Harve) Westveld; brother-in-law, Jerry (Sally) Kuyers. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11 AM at 7^th Reformed Church Chapel, 950 Leonard Street NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan with Dr. Tim J.R. Trumper officiating. Interment Rusk Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 5-8 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 6651 Scott Street, Allendale, Michigan and Wednesday from 10-11 AM prior to the service at the church. The family wishes to thank the staff at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Community for the loving and compassionate care given to Lester. Memorial contributions may be made to Allendale Christian School or Borculo Christian School.
