Remembering Lester D. Tacoma
Lester D. Tacoma, age 89 of Grandville, born on April 3, 1930, passed into Glory on Saturday, June 22, 2019, relieving him of the dementia that robbed him of a life that gave him meaning and joy. Les loved going up north to fish, hunt, snowmobile, and just be outdoors in the woods. He also loved having early morning coffee with the “guys” at the family restaurant in Falmouth, MI. Les was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys (Boven) Tacoma; his parents, Jacob and Anna Tacoma; and his brothers, Alvin Tacoma, and Don Tacoma. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 15 years, Jean Baas-Tacoma; children, Karen and Gord Kosters, Lois and Greg Scharphorn, Brian and Kara Tacoma; grandchildren, Laura Scharphorn, Kevin Kosters, Kelli and Josh Gress, Jeff and Meghan Kosters, Bethany Tacoma, Hilary Tacoma; 4 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Darlene and Marc DeHaan, Orland and Cindy Baas, Karla and Rick Dwarshuis, Dar Baas, Sheri and Tom Datema; 13 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy and Henry Schierbeek, Ardythe and Rev. Harv Ouwinga; sister-in-law, Lil Tacoma; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at noon at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, O-60 Port Sheldon, Grandville, with Rev. Gerry Koning officiating. Interment will be held at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Wednesday from 11-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Baruch Senior Ministries or the Victory Bible Camp Alaska. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Cambridge Manor and Spectrum Health Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Les.
