Lester Berkenpas

Lester Berkenpas, age 88, of Grand Rapids, was called home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Lester was a respected, loving, and selfless man whose faith in Christ was his joy in life. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; an infant son; and granddaughter, Amber VandenBerg. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Leslie and Barb Berkenpas, Barbara Berkenpas, Gary Berkenpas, Steve and Vicky Berkenpas; grandchildren, Jason and Brittany Berkenpas, Lisa Berkenpas, Micah Berkenpas, and Dylan Berkenpas; great-grandchildren, Naomi, Titus, and Thaddeus; brother, Willard Berkenpas; sisters, Jean and Pete Visser, Gladys and Alan Vanniman; sister-in-law, Ann Berkenpas; brothers-in-law, John and Ann Zuverink, and Don Zuverink; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Bethany United Reformed Church, 5401 Byron Center Ave SW with Rev. Eric Van Der Molen and Rev. Casey Freswick officiating. Burial Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
