Leonora Ann Smit

Leonora Ann (Zandbergen) Smit, age 88, of Grandville, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Leonard; son, Bob; and sister, Elaine DeHaan. She was a kind and gentle woman, who always put the needs of her family before her own. Leonora will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lori Turnbull; sons, Larry Smit, and Doug Smit; grandchildren, Wendy and Jason Bradley, Tim Grifhorst, Heather and Ken Palcowski, Kaitlyn and Auston Pannill; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Henrietta Wiltjer, Rose Smit, and Mary Smit; many nieces and nephews. Although her life wasn’t always easy, losing her father as a teenager, contracting hepatitis and not graduating with her class, the loss of her 17-year-old son, and several health issues, she never complained. Her faith never wavered, and she was always grateful for the many blessings God had given her. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Matt Cook officiating. Burial Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
