Leon Frederick Groendal

Leon Frederick Groendal went to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Leon was 94 years old. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy, his three brothers, Jack, Bruce, Kenneth, two sisters, Lois Lawson, Jorrien Mioduchoski. He is survived by his lovely wife of 61 years, Loretta; his three children, Joel, Mark and wife, Nancy, Lisa and husband, David Fitchena; two grandsons, Jonah and Elijah Groendal; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeffrey Julius; many nieces and nephews. Leon was a pastor at Northview Church of Christ up until the last year.  He proudly served his country during WWII as a flight engineer on the B-24. Leon loved spending time with his family and church members. Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, March 11 at Grandville Church of Christ, 3725 44^th St SW, Grandville, with Pastor Russ Holden officiating.  Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will meet relatives and friends 6-9pm Friday, March 10 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming.
