Lee Roy Stine was born April 11, 1935 to Olin and Grace Stine of Adel, IA, the oldest of five siblings. He grew up on a farm northeast of Adel and attended Adel Schools. After graduation, he attended Iowa State University where he studied Animal Husbandry. He married Marilyn Schneider on May 24, 1958 and moved to Des Moines. To that union, two sons were born, Douglas (Susan) Stine of Overland Park, KS, Donald (Susan) Stine of West Des Moines; a daughter, Debra Ailts of Ada, MI; four grandchildren, Taylor Raines, Lauren Stine, David Stine, Matthew Stine; one great grandchild, Landon Raines. Lee worked on a farm and then a trucking firm in Des Moines. Later he and his brother-in-law started their own trucking business called North Iowa Express. Lee worked there until his retirement. Lee was a member of First Federated Church now called Mission Church. A born-again Christian, he taught young boys in Sunday School. Because of Lewy Body Dementia, he and his wife moved to their daughter’s home in Ada, MI and was helped by Care Resources of Michigan. He spent his final days living at Pilgrim Manor. He entered into the presence of the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2022. A funeral service will be held at Mission Church, 12001 Ridgemont Dr., Urbandale, IA 50323 on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Mission Church.

Carl and I are so sorry to hear of Lee’s death. We will always remember how welcoming you both were when we joined your lovey neighborhood. We enjoyed the tomatoes Lee tended. He was definitely a hard worker and an asset to the neighborhood. I will be out of town Saturday but will be thinking of you at this sad time.
