Lawrence McKenna, age 82, of Grandville, was called to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus, on Saturday, September 26, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Lynne; son, Patrick and Leisi; grandchildren, Michael and Meaghan, Conor; great grandson, Gunner and soon to be great granddaughter, Libby Lynne.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie, brother, Dale and sister, Mary. Larry was a loving, warm, kind, sweet husband, father and grandfather. In honor of Larry, please give a hug to those you love. He valiantly served his country in the US Marine Corps.  Larry was a hardworking, dedicated employee of the plating industry for over 30 years, retiring from Master Finish. He was a past president of the Electroplating Society. Larry was a true, dyed in the wool, Notre Dame supporter and fan. Being an Irishman, he felt a close kinship with the Fighting Irish. Larry loved his retirement job with MKD Funeral Home. He relished greeting all of the many friends, relatives, and parishioners that he knew. Services will be held Tuesday, September 29, at 11:00 am at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, with Fr. Mike Alber presiding. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 5 to 8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, as well as one hour prior to Mass at the church. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to the St. John Vianney Educational Foundation.

It was a joy to see Larry as a patient in our office, he always had a smile and hug to share, and he and Dr. would have a lively discussion of Notre Dame and U of M! He was such a positive and caring person, he really had a gift with making people feel special! He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Love and prayers to the McKenna family, Anne
