Lawrence (Larry) Hamming, age 81, of Wyoming, born March 23, 1935 in McBain, MI, passed away unexpectedly and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 31, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Betty Hamming; his grandson, Jonathan Lane Hamming; and his brother, Maurice (Mort) Hamming. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, great-grandfather, that was blessed with a strong work ethic. He was a faithful employee of Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch, driving truck for 49 years. Throughout his career, many friendships were made. Larry had the gift of volunteering and serving others. He faithfully gave of his time and talents distributing food with the food truck at church and also served at the Kennel Club dog shows along with his wife Jan, always helping in whatever was needed. Above all, he loved his family and served his Lord. Larry was a Korean War Veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army as a Company Clerk, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the Sharpshooter Badge. Following his enlistment in the Army, he became a lifelong member of the NRA. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Janice (Jan); his children, Jon and Jennifer Hamming, Mary and Dan Anson, James and Kim Hamming; grandchildren, Chris Hamming, Kari Koster, Katelyn Hamming, Cassie Hamming; great grandchildren, Ella, Landon, Roman, and Tatum; brother, Gary and Karen Hamming; sister, Marilyn and Bob Ten Harkel; sisters-in-law, Joanne Hamming, Kathryn and Matthew Vokes, Debbie Bowman; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Christian Reformed Church, 3500 Byron Center Ave SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Dr. Douglas Kamstra officiating. Interment Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, August 5, from 6-9 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW and at the church Saturday from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

Jan, Mary and family. I am so very sorry for your loss. Lawrence was such a wonderful person. We will all miss him so.
