LaVerne Schut

LaVerne Harvey Schut, age 94, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 30, 2022. LaVerne was a kind and loving dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who was blessed with a strong work ethic. He was the former owner of LaVerne Schut Poured Walls which he operated until he retired in 1992. LaVerne had a love of Belgian horses and was a genuine horse trader making many trips down to Shipshewana, Indiana to the auction. He was a lifetime member of the Hudsonville Protestant Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Garthea; and daughter, Judi Carrico. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jim and Maribeth Schut, Lori and Mike Boven; grandchildren, Michelle and Phillip Hamberg, Sherri and Mike Phillips, Jason and Jolene Schut, Renae and Jason Riddering, Wyatt Carrico, Cam and Katelyn Boven, Emily and John VanderBand; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Louis and Carla Schut; sister, Violet and Ron Gort; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beverly DeVries, Yvonne Reiffer, Rich and Lin Schrotenboer, Ron and Joan Schrotenboer; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Perlin (Agnes) Schut, sister, Gladys (Bryce) Ripley, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donna and Jerry Honderd, Lambert Jager, and Roger (Donna) Schrotenboer. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 11 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Burial Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hope Protestant Reformed Christian School or to Covenant Christian High School.
