Laurie Gordon

April 30, 1955 ~
November 26, 2024

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the passing of Laurie Gordon. Laurie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Brad; three children, Lance, Scott, and Christy; two bonus children,  Scott Admiraal,  and Abby Deevers; four grandchildren, Levi, Lydia, Ivan, Ingrid; granddog, Jeffery; and sister, Lisa Head.

Before you read about her brief battle with cancer, we hope you will first take a moment to reflect on who Laurie was—because that is what truly matters.

Laurie was, above all else, a child of God. She was a woman after God’s heart, embodying authenticity and unwavering faith. Her love for Christ was evident in every aspect of her life, leaving an example for all who knew her.

She was the beloved wife of Brad, her partner and best friend. Their love story inspired everyone around them, filled with laughter and countless adventures—Disney cruises being a favorite.

Laurie was an exceptionally loving, joyful, and caring mother to her three children and those with which they shared their lives. She selflessly poured her heart into them, teaching them to love Jesus deeply, move through the world with kindness and compassion, and appreciate the beauty of a perfectly crafted sentence.

As “Meema” to four adoring grandchildren, Laurie was their biggest fan and source of infinite love. She was the kind of grandmother we all wish for—present, supportive, and endlessly encouraging.

Laurie was the heart of Mars Hill Bible Church, joining as the first staff member 25 years ago. If you asked anyone who was really in charge, the answer was unanimous—it was Laurie.

She was a friend to everyone, especially those on the fringes. Laurie had a gift for making everyone feel like her favorite, leaving a trail of joy and belonging wherever she went. Her infectious laugh could light up a room.

That is who Laurie was and how she will always be remembered. Her legacy of faith, love, and laughter will live on through all who knew her.

On November 19, Laurie began feeling unwell and was admitted to the ER. The next day, she was diagnosed with liver cancer. Additional tests revealed it had spread to her brain and stomach.

On the afternoon of November 26, surrounded by loved ones, Laurie peacefully took her final breaths and was welcomed into the arms of her Savior.

Plans for a celebration of Laurie’s life will be on December 27, with finalized details being shared at a later date.

Please keep Brad, her children, grandchildren, and all who loved her in your prayers during this difficult time.
