Lary Schild

August 28, 1959 ~
November 9, 2021

Lary Dean Schild, age 62, was called home unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. He was greeted in Heaven by his father, Vernon, mother, Lucille, oldest brother, Vern, and three grandsons, “Lil” Harry, Adrian, and Micah. Lary was the youngest of ten children, he was born at home to Vernon and Lucille Schild. He had a great love for music, Lake Michigan, Berlin Raceway, bowling, golf, and football, especially the University of Michigan Wolverines and Tom Brady. His dream was one day to buy back the family cottage and also the raceway. He spent many Saturdays taking his granddaughters, who he had a special bond with, to Berlin Raceway. He shared his sense of humor and his love of sports with Avery and his love of music with Addison. He would tell Addison that the vicious Virgos needed to stick together. He also cherished Friday night game nights with his family. Lary is survived by his children, Michael Aldridge, and Rebecca Aldridge; granddaughters, Avery and Addison Gildea; special friend, Mary Schild; sisters, Ruth (Jerry) Valkier, Nancy (James, deceased) McDonald, Marilyn (Clarence) Kinder, Judy (Mike) Brunette, Phyllis (Patrick, deceased) Hammond; brothers, Ronald (Julie) Schild, Dale (Helen) Schild, Randall (Vicki) Schild; sister-in-law, Gean (Vernon, deceased) Bradford; and many nieces and nephews. Lary will be greatly missed. A celebration of life open house will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 2-5 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home Reception and Event Center (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.

I worked with Lary at Steelcase and at ECF. We had some great talks and I will miss running into him on and off. I was always amazed at his skills in Bowling and Golf. Will miss you buddy. Prayers for the family.

Little do we know what the next moment brings. Knowing Friday was going to be the last time I saw you I would have stayed longer. I would have come back and watched football with you. I can go over it a million times and it still doesn’t change the fact you are gone. I will cherish every moment I spent telling you to be nice to your nurses. Telling you to stay calm. Telling you to call your kids. Reminding you how loved you are and all the prayers coming your way. Little brother I would spend all these endless sleepless nights over again because I love you that much. I miss you terribly. I will think of you often as I look out over the lake. I’m thankful that God chose me and our siblings to grow up with you. We were blessed every day to share life with you. I know you’re ok. I know God came and gently told you it was time to come home. Me and all who love you grieve but with Gods Grace and our faith we will be ok too. Until we meet again brother, I love you. Thank you for being you and bringing light into our lives.

I worked on & off with Lary for years. Lary always had a smile & was an extremely nice & outgoing man. I've enjoyed my time working & golfing with him. Many of us at E.C.F. will miss him. My condolences to his family. R.I.P.

I remember when you were learning to write your name. Your teachers kept correcting you, but they were wrong. You were named "Lary" by Dad after his favorite Detroit Lions player, Yale Lary....always with one "r". We will all miss you very much...a life taken too soon. Rest In Peach 'lil brother.
