Larry Ritsema, age 86, of Grandville, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021, and is now resting comfortably in the arms of his Lord and Savior. Larry worked diligently as a plasterer for over 50 years. He was a faithful husband, selfless father, and dedicated in love for his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Pearl; parents, Henry and Ada Ritsema; brothers, Fred Ritsema, Clarence Ritsema, John Ritsema; and sisters, Vivian Buiten, Chris Dalman. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kim and Pete Peterson, Brian and Nancee Ritsema, Dave and Brenda Ritsema, Dean and Laura Ritsema, Brent and Christine Ritsema; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kari Peterson, Brandon and Liz Ritsema (Lucas, Lila, Laikin), Jared and Mary Ritsema (Michael Dunlap, Mariah Pearl), Amber Ritsema (Marquis), Chana and Jason VanderVennen (Addalyn, Makenna, Delaney), Cameron and Emily Ritsema (Theodore), Ethan Ritsema, Colin Ritsema, Ben Meyer, Sam Meyer, Jack Meyer, Seth and Jacquelyn Ritsema (Kinsley), Ashlyn Ritsema, Caden Ritsema; brother, Henry Ritsema; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, JoAnne Ritsema, Alan Hielkema, Dennis and Suzanne Howerzyl; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Reggie Smith officiating. The burial will take place at Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, October 10, from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Potter’s House Christian School or the Metropolitan Choir of Praise.
