Larry “Steve” Richey, age 71, of Wyoming, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Larry served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a 31 year employee at Steelcase and also worked part-time at Chapin’s Automotive. After his retirement he worked for West Michigan Auto Auction. He was a hot rod and motorcycle aficionado. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rhoda Gabus; brother, David Noorman; nephew, Adam Murphy; cousin Rick Gardner. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and brother. Larry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patty; daughters, Andrea Richey and Kathleen Howell; son, Mark Richey; grandchildren, Kyaira, Katelyn, Autumn, Kadence; sisters, brother, and many nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Dave Van Lewen. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Scott Gardner officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to American Cancer Society.

Steve was a very close friend. He will be missed by everyone that he touched in his life. Personally he worked with me at both Chapin's Marathon and when my dad (Dick Chapin) opened Chapin's Auto. He helped our family in so many ways.
I will always remember Steve as a friend and mentor .

Patty, Andrea, Mark and Kathleen, I am so very sorry for your loss. My family could always count on Steve for anything. He was always there for mom and dad. He was a part of my life for such a long time. I will miss him very much. My thoughts, prayers and love are with all of you.
