Larry Nederveld

May 30, 1943 ~
September 29, 2021

Larry Richard Nederveld entered into the arms of our Lord on September 29, 2021, after a short battle with illness. Larry’s devotion to his wife and children along with his steadfast belief in God supported him through his short struggle and ultimately brought him eternal peace.

Larry was born to the late Joseph and Annette Nederveld in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on May 30, 1943. Larry graduated from Grandville High School and earned an Associate degree from Davenport University. He then enlisted in the army to fulfill his duty to his country.

Throughout his career, Larry worked tirelessly in the furniture and boating industry supporting his three children, Tamara, Shelly, and Todd. Ultimately Larry found himself working alongside his son, Todd, at Kandu Industries serving special needs adults. Larry had a unique talent to connect with these special needs individuals seeing the value in each one. He took the time with each person getting to know them and understand how to bring out the best in everyone.

Throughout Larry’s life, he served God in many ways with his talents and interests. Larry, along with his wife, Charese Nederveld, served at Fair Haven Church as part of the choir and Hark Up. They also volunteered their time and energy to serve others in their community. You could often find Larry with his son Todd at the airport watching airplanes, at the railyard or just fishing on the pond in the backyard. They shared a mutual passion for cars, trains, boats, and anything that went fast and made noise. Larry was also known for his obsession with cleaning his cars and his son follows right in his footsteps. Larry was also a constant supporter of his son, becoming involved in Special Olympics and Georgetown Harmony Homes where Todd resides. As retirement approached, Larry and Char spent much of their free time traveling. They enjoyed many trips visiting family or crossing off another vacation on their bucket list. Some of Larry’s favorite memories included traveling to Hawaii, Montana, Colorado and visiting friends and family in Missouri, Florida, and Oklahoma.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Charese Nederveld; his children, Tamara (Matt) Stilwell, Shelly (Mark) Bernecker, Todd Nederveld; stepdaughters, Lannette (Allen) Campbell, Bobbie Jo Burgess; grandchildren Micah, Jael, Isaac, Rebekah, Greta, Danielle, Jessica, Matthew, Scott, Jacob, Dylan, Kalib; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Charlene Isham; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Annette Nederveld; and his stepdaughter, Tammi Jo Robinson.

There will be a private Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Georgetown Harmony Homes https://www.georgetownharmonyhomes.org where Larry’s son Todd resides. (Please note “In memory of Larry Nederveld” on the memo line when making a donation.)
