Larry Jay Kooienga, age 61, of Allendale, went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Paul Kooienga. Larry will be lovingly remembered by his children, James Kooienga, David Kooienga and Stephanie Woodwyk, Jessica and Rod Baker; grandchildren, Laci Kooienga, Natalie Kooienga, Logan Kooienga, Jasper Kooienga; mother, Eleanor Kooienga; sister, Sharon Van Dam, brother, Gary Kooienga; many friends and family. Larry loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. They were the light of his life. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, October 15, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf, 6651 Scott St., Allendale. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

Larry one of many friends I have lost way to early. I will miss you my friend. Even though we didn’t see each other like we use to. I can’t thank you enough for the memories that I have of you.RIP my friend!

Remembering our many road trips together, cruising, getting stuck, getting lost (on purpose), and especially that epic night when you did your dad's route for the first time and let me ride along! The first dirt bike I ever rode was yours, and I was lucky to survive it while foolishly trying to copy your style. You introduced me to music I never thought I'd like but still love today. The first real guitar I ever played was when you loaned me your Stratocaster and that massive amp. Thanks for the time I got to spend with you, trying to be half as cool, half as manly, and half as good looking!
