Larry W. Grasman, age 70, of Hudsonville, was called to his heavenly home on Memorial Day, May 30, 2016. Larry was in the 1967 pioneer class at Grand Valley State College, now GVSU. After graduation, he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps and became a commissioned officer, after which he attended flight school and received his wings. He flew the OV-10 Bronco in Vietnam in 1969-70. After serving overseas, he returned to Pensacola, FL as a class instructor for his final two years. After serving for six years, he returned to West Michigan. He was President of Grand Valley Equipment Co. and Kubota of Grand Rapids before retiring and spending winters in Madeira Beach, FL. He had a big heart and was so loving, kind, and generous to all those who knew him. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Louis and Margaret Grasman, sister, Sharon Keene, and in-laws, Robert and Ethel DePuit. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Barbara J. DePuit Grasman; sister, Arloa and Ron VanderWal; brothers, Jack and Barb Grasman, Terry and Vicki Grasman, Russ and Amy Grasman, Rick and Sue Grasman; sisters-in-law, Judith and Ron Schuitman, Patricia and Peter Van Til; nineteen nieces and nephews whom he adored: Lori Deemter, Chris VanderWal, Patrick VanderWal, Deann Hamming, Mike Boldt, Brian Boldt, Todd Grasman, Michelle McAlary, Shawn Grasman, Jeff Grasman, Becky Velthouse, Matt Grasman, Megan Grasman, Derek Grasman, Kyle Grasman, Laurel Cushman, Stacey Gkekas, Jeffrey VanTil, and Chris VanTil; Funeral services will be held on Thursday 11 am at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress, Jenison, with Rev. Matthew Palsrok officiating. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Gary Sinise Foundation, Fisher House Foundation, or American Heart Association.

I served with Larry in VMO-2, Da Nang, RVN in 1970. Sorry we didn't see him at any reunions, but had hoped to make that happen in the future.

Hadn't seen Larry in many years but remember him from working on the farm with Jack, Terry and Russ. Larry flew many air support missions in Vietnam for 1st Recon Bn. teams in the jungle. His skill and firepower, flying the Bronco saved many lives on the ground.

Just got the news from my dad (Marvin) this morning. We are so sorry for your loss! He was loved by my parents and me too. I have fond memories of you visiting us at the house in Coldwater last summer. Larry will be greatly missed by the Rosenbergs! Hugs and prayers here for you Barb and family.
