January 13, 1949 ~
March 8, 2021

On March 8, 2021, Larry Dean Lewis went to his heavenly home. Larry was born on January 13, 1949 to Foster and Betty Lewis in Caledonia, MI where he lived his whole life. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved the Lord, and was active at his church. He was proud to continue the tradition of farming the same corner as his family had for more than 140 years as seen on his 4th of July float pulled by his favorite tractor decorated to show his love of country. He enjoyed going out West pheasant hunting. He loved his grandkids, and was very proud of them. They are his best crop yet.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Lewis; his five children, Angela (Brian) Rushlow, Dean (Darcey) Lewis, Matt (Stephani) Lewis, Tim (Mary) Smith, and Ed (Sherri) Smith; his 13 grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda Boot, and Luann Lewis-Snyder; and his mother-in-law, Theressa Noffke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Betty Lewis; his father-in-law, Ralph (Betty) Noffke; and his grandson, John Thomas Smith.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, March 12, 2021 at Gaines Church, 1612 92nd St. SE, Caledonia, with Rev. Kelly Burnside officiating. Burial at Hooker Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia and from 10-11 am Friday at the church. Due to gathering restrictions, there will be a limit on the number of people who may enter the building at a time. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Larry fought the good fight and was a warrior for his Lord here on earth. He left a great legacy of Christianity instilled in his big family which will continue for generations. May God bless your family in this time of adjusting to life without him nearby.
