Larry Darnell Hulin

Larry Darnell Hulin, age 73, of Allendale, went to be with his Lord and his family on Monday, April 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dixie and Gladys Hulin; brother, Don and Norma Hulin; sister, Patricia and Basil Elwell. Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon; children, Michael Hulin, Shawn and Kim Hulin, Shannon Hulin; six grandchildren, Megan Hulin, Shane Hulin, Amanda Hulin, Tiffany Hulin, Will Hulin, Kate Hulin. Inurnment Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf (corner of Avery and Scott) 6651 Scott St., Allendale. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Working with Larry at Kenowa Hills was a genuine pleasure. My daughters, who worked with Larry at KH also, thought the world of him - as did I. Whenever I needed someone to help me at an event Larry was right there. We had many a fond conversations about the UM-ND rivalry and a few bets! Larry was a man of great character that I was proud to call a friend.

I met Larry thru my involvement with the Kenowa Hills Athletic Boosters. From that time ( 25 years ago) I considered Larry a dear friend. Larry IS the most kindest person I have ever known. The Kenowa Hills family lost a wonderful man, but GOD has gained another SON. My thoughts and prayers are with family. GOD blessed you you with a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and many wonderful memories.

Mr. Hulin was the Director of our Custodial Staff at Kenowa Hills High School. Not only a hard-worker who's employees admired, but also one of the genuinely kindest people I have encountered. He was an asset to the Kenowa Hills community in his time here. We considered him a part of our Coaching Staff and we thank him for his service to our kids, and to our school He will be missed.

I knew Larry during my days at Kenowa, 2002-2006. I got to know him during the late hours or early mornings when he would open or keep open the gym for me to play basketball. He's the type of person that took genuine interest in people and always supported us. It's a quality that I admired and it definitely had an everlasting impact on me. It's been over a decade and I still think about him regularly. Truly will be missed.
