Larry A. Bowerman

Larry A. Bowerman, age 78, of Grand Rapids, was called to his heavenly home after a brief illness on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Larry was a long time faithful employee of Brann’s Restaurants for over 45 years. He proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Hancock. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Darrin Duane Bowerman; his parents, Edward and Merci Bowerman; brothers, Jack, Bill, and Harold Bowerman; sister, Sandy Bowerman. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Larry Lee and Linda Bowerman; step-daughter, Earlina and Mark Velting; the mother of his children, Jeannie Bigelow; his grandchildren, Julie Ann Bowerman, Larry Lee “Bubba” Bowerman II; several great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Barbara and Bill Hitchcock, Duane and Jeannie Bowerman. The family would also like to acknowledge Bobbie Spikes, and Dawn Van Kampen for the wonderful love and care given to Larry. A special thanks also to Tom Doyle for everything he has done over the years for Dad. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Pastor Wayne Bowerman officiating.  Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.  In lieu of flower, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
