Kristan Jean Vander Poppen

Kristan Jean Vander Poppen, age 72, of Grandville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Kit was preceded in death by her parents, Earl “Curly” and Ida Jean Vander Poppen. She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Dries (Mary) Vander Poppen, Jan (Steven) Sullivan, Kurt (Nancy) Vander Poppen; nieces and nephews: Amy, Jill, Erin, Patrick, Rob; and several great nieces and nephews. Kit earned her master’s degree in education from Western Michigan University and ended up working as an administrator in the business office at Forest View Clinic for many years. She loved serving at her church, especially helping the kids in various youth groups. Kit cherished time spent with her nieces and nephews whether taking them to fun events during the holidays, going on trips for their graduations and going camping. She traveled over the years to many places with her friends and family. Her hobbies include gardening, reading and baking. She enjoyed music, attending concerts and operas and playing the clarinet at a young age. Kit will be greatly missed for her fun sense of humor and the love and care she had for her family and friends. A memorial service for Kit will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 11:00 am at Grandville United Methodist Church, 3140 Wilson Ave. SW Grandville 49418 with Rev. Ryan Wieland officiating. Private interment will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods or The American Cancer Society.
