Kimberly Dawn (Vonk) Gahlau, age 57, of Wyoming, went Home to receive her ultimate healing on July 13, 2026. After a courageous battle with cancer lasting more than two years, Kimberly passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, and wrapped in so much love. We are heartbroken beyond words, but grateful that she is now at peace and no longer weary.

Kimberly was married to her beloved husband, Shane, for 20 years and was a loving dog mama to Finley and Fiona. She worked at GetixHealth for 16 years, serving as a medical coder and coding supervisor. She had a passion for all things fashion—from clothing and shoes to perfume and every accessory imaginable, including many duplicates and no less than 76 pairs of silver hoop earrings in every variety you can imagine.

She loved cooking and baking and found great joy in sharing her creations with family and friends. Kimberly absolutely adored spending summers in Saugatuck with her husband and her friends. She also loved attending concerts with family and friends, and one of her favorite memories was traveling by train with Shane to see their favorite band, The 1975, an impressive 13 times.

Kimberly will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Shane Gahlau; her cherished fur babies, Finley and Fiona; parents, Ronald and Shirley Vonk, and Kerry and Hope Kay Lynema; mother-in-law, Arnette Gahlau; her siblings, Chad and Paula Lynema (Corrinne, Taylen), Kathy Ramsey (Zach, Allie, Jaydon, Andrew), Tanya Daniels (Hannah, Zander), and Erin Lynema (Audrey, Reagan, Lucas, Charlotte); stepbrothers, Gary Duvall, and Greg and Tracy Duvall (Jacob, Rebecca); and her brother-in-law, Rayne and Jodi Gahlau (Joshua, Kayla).

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Kentwood Community Church, 1200 60th St. SE, Kentwood with Pastor Michael Braden officiating. Burial will take place at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Monday, July 20 from 4-7 pm at Kentwood Community Church. In true Kimberly fashion, guests are encouraged to forgo black attire and wear something that makes them feel fabulous. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Humane Society of West Michigan.
