Kent De Young

Kent Allen De Young, age 49, of Hudsonville, peacefully was welcomed into his Heavenly Father’s arms on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Kent courageously fought the good fight against colon cancer. Kent had many great years in between May of 2012 when he was first diagnosed and May of 2023 when he was again on the journey to fight cancer. Kent was born on April 25, 1975 to Rich and Jean De Young, and Kent truly loved life. He loved playing drums, skiing, and camping, but most of all loved sharing his Christian faith and going to church and Christian concerts. Kent was a faithful servant at Beechwood Reformed Church. He enjoyed attending outdoor services in the summer and visiting with many members of Beechwood. Kent enjoyed building relationships with people and sharing life with them. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Rich A. De Young; father-in-law, Rev. David P. Breen; and both his maternal and paternal grandparents. Kent will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Leah; daughter, Lydia; mother, Jean De Young; siblings, Ed and Darlene De Young, Vonda and Derek Daniels; mother-in-law, Linda S. Breen; siblings-in-law Rachel and Chad Chapman, David and Heather Breen; nieces and nephews: Jered Daniels, Adena Daniels, Hailey and Richard Jefferies, Tyler De Young, Darrel De Young, Makenzie Chapman, Jake Chapman, Lukas Chapman, Adalyn Breen, and Graysen Breen; and also many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who have become family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Beechwood Church, 895 Ottawa Beach Rd., Holland, 49424 with Pastor Dave Lantz officiating. Burial will take place at Lakewood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Monday, February 10, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Beechwood Church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Benjamin’s Hope or Jenison Christian School. The family would also like to thank Corewell Hospice for all of their tender and loving care for Kent over these past few weeks.
